How do I determine my eligibility?

Whether it's understanding your options or finding the right health plan, we're here to help. Independent Health offers plans you can purchase directly from us and those available through the New York State of Health Marketplace. To determine which route is best for you, consider the following and talk to a RedShirt!

1. Who are you applying for health coverage for?
2. What is your total gross household income?
   • To determine your gross household income, total the amount of money you, your spouse or domestic partner, as well as any dependent age 19 or older, receives from:
     • Full-time, part-time or seasonal job
     • Unemployment insurance benefits
     • Social Security benefits
     • Other income, such as taxable interest, dividends, IRA distributions (taxable amount only), alimony received, business income/loss, rental income, royalties, partnerships, S-Corps, trusts, farm income and other income applicable to the 1040 form (do not include child support or Veteran payments)
3. How many people are in your household?
   • Aside from yourself, this may include a spouse or domestic partner and any children who are tax dependents (those listed on your federal income tax return). Please consult with a RedShirt today to determine household size and eligibility.
